Lathrop Elementary, Lathrop:

Six experienced teachers at a transitional kindergarten through eigth grade school seek project-based enrichment for their at-risk students and English learners through the STEAM model, with an additional emphasis on literacy. Their chosen professional development includes conferences devoted to STEAM, the Next Generation Science Standards, and English Learners and their families. Implementation of the Latino Family Literacy Program will support parental involvement. In addition, the team will work with a district science program coordinator and visit schools with a STEAM focus in order to understand what will work best for their school’s population in the establishment of a STEAM center on campus.
