Martin Luther King School of the Arts, Monterey

This team of four elementary school teachers hopes to implement skills and strategies learned at the Teachers College Writing Institute at Columbia University. Throughout the first year, they will meet on a consistent basis, debrief and work to improve their instruction. They will also observe each other during designated writing time and encourage and support each other. They plan to return to Teachers College as advanced participants, deepen their understanding, and refine their craft. Throughout the two years of their project, the team will create a meaningful curriculum that is culturally relevant and appropriate for their students.
