East Palo Alto Academy, East Palo Alto

The goal of these five high school teachers is to strengthen their school’s Advisory program. They want to equip Team Members (grade-level Advisory leads) with deeper understanding of how a vertically aligned Advisory curriculum over its three strands — academic monitoring, social-emotional learning, and career- and college-readiness — can improve college-going culture and students’ readiness. The team will accomplish this by attending high-quality professional development and acquiring curricula from CASEL-affiliated programs. They will use these frameworks to backwards plan Advisory, creating benchmark assessments and lessons to boost student achievement in the three strands.
