Six teachers across disciplines will cultivate a service-learning focus that can help them meet their academic goals and ignite their passions as educators towards addressing real community needs. Team members will work in a professional learning community in partnership with the National Youth Leadership Council to develop skill sets in collaboration, unit design, and creating meaningful partnerships. By composing a team of teachers that are highly specialized across subjects, participants plan to develop a more interdisciplinary approach to teaching. Developing this new set of skills will allow the team to put roots down and feel connected to the school and larger community they serve.
