Mountain View High School, Mountain View

The team consists of three teachers with diverse subject matter and grade level experience. They are investigating and reviewing best practices for student success with the Common Core Standards by creating a Professional Learning Community.

The LIGHT Awards grant is enabling team members and additional teachers to attend summer workshops, including: AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Write Path, Reading Apprenticeship, Santa Clara County Office of Education trainings, Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Team members are coordinating monthly afterschool onsite Professional Learning Community meetings to follow up, apply and assess how well these best practices meet the expectations of the Common Core and the needs of the school’s staff and students.
