Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High, Davis
Cesar Chavez Elementary School, Davis
To prepare their World Language students to become global citizens in the 21st century, the team of five elementary and junior high school teachers strives to teach language in a way that the brain naturally learns: through strategies that make language comprehensible, personable and relevant to the student. The team will receive training in Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS), and become certified in an ACTFL-approved language proficiency assessment. They will work together, providing each other with feedback and sharing knowledge in order to demonstrate that fun and effective learning experiences lead to both student and staff success.
