El Verano Elementary School, Sonoma

A team of four elementary school teachers will attend the Teachers College Reading Coaching Institute at Columbia University in order to build teacher leadership and strengthen school-wide implementation of Readers Workshop. The project team will establish a literacy lab-site by engaging Teachers College staff developers several times throughout the school year. In lab classrooms, the literacy leadership team will facilitate “in-the-moment” peer coaching in order to strengthen professional development opportunities and implementation of a Readers Workshop model school-wide. Project team members will videotape demonstration lessons to develop a professional development video library to be shared with teachers.
