The team of six elementary school teachers at a newcomer school will be pursuing professional development to reinvigorate their teaching of English Language Development. Their goal is to make lessons fun, exciting, and engaging for newly-arrived immigrant English learners by involving them in STEAM projects that are intentionally crafted and modified with Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) strategies. In doing so, they will integrate the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) with the California ELD Standards. The team will attend conferences and workshops and develop presentations to share learnings with staff, parents, and administrators.
